I’m Lisa Cullen and I want to be your next Brevard County Tax Collector. I welcome you to my

we prepare for the November Election, we need to choose the person for this job that has the
ability, training, experience and qualifications to step in on day one and make a difference. In
the current economic times we can not afford on the job training.
I have over twenty-one (21) years experience working in a Tax Collector’s office. My experience
will benefit you by making your Tax Collector’s office a more efficient and cost effective
operation.
In 1985, I began my career with the Brevard County Tax Collector’s Office on the front counter
in the Rockledge Tag Agency. Over the years, I worked hard and moved up through the ranks
from counter clerk to assistant manager to trainer and was later promoted to Director of Title
and Registration. As Director of Title and Registration for the Brevard County Tax Collector, I
was responsible for every Tag Agency in Brevard County and over 100 employees, the majority
of the Tax Collector’s staff.
I have the experience, training and knowledge of how the Brevard County Tax Collector’s
Office operates and the laws governing this office. With all the director’s except one retiring in
the coming months, my experience will make the transition a much smoother process,
ensuring you continue to receive a high level of service, plus I will explore adding additional
services to enhance your Tax Collector’s Office.
I will be able to hit the ground running as your new Tax Collector and will be able to make a
difference on day one.

Responsible for policy and procedural recommendations to the Department of Revenue,
Tax Collector's Association and State of Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor
Vehicles.
- Serves on Tax Collector’s Association’s Education Committee.
- Educated in laws, procedures and regulations governing Tax Collector’s Offices and
Collection of your Tax Dollars.
- Holds Certified Florida Collector’s Assistant Certification.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management with Major in Accounting.
I have the Experience to save you money, while increasing your level of service.
- I believe as Tax Collector, responsible stewardship of your tax dollars is imperative. I will
evaluate every aspect of the organization for potential cost savings while maintaining a
high level of service. I will do a comprehensive audit and review of the current budget and
look for savings within the existing budget.
- Staffing and current vacancies will be reviewed to determine if the positions are currently
necessary or could be better utilized elsewhere within the organization
- I will Institute a cross training program and reorganize the work flow of the office to
better utilize existing personnel to provide a higher level of service to the citizens of
Brevard County without additional costs.
- I will lower your cost of conducting business by Credit/Debit Cards by either
finding a new vendor offering lower convenience fees or renegotiate with the current
vendor to reduce this cost to you.
- I will deposit property tax payments the same day they are received. This
would allow funds to be invested into interest-bearing accounts quickly, earning the
greatest return on your tax dollars.
- I will lower your costs for major purchases. Requests for proposals will be made for
major purchases and reasonable bids from Brevard County vendors will be given priority.
If possible, I want to spend our tax dollars with local businesses, benefiting our
economy.
- Experience to recognize future problems and a willingness to find solutions.
With the closing of the Merritt Island Driver's License office set for the end of this year and
the implementation of the Real ID Act in 2010, requiring ALL Brevard County Licensed
Drivers to physically go to the Driver’s License Office to renew their licenses as they
expire, the possibility of offering limited driver license services in the Tax Collector’s
Office must be explored. Such services are offered in other counties and allow their
citizens the convenience of completing address changes and renewals all in one
location. Saving you time and money.
- The Experience to look for new ways to work with other County Agencies to
better serve you. I will explore forming a partnership with the Clerk of Court’s Office to
allow payment of Traffic Fines at your Tax Collector’s Office, utilizing a Clerk’s Office
employee. Saving you time and money.
- The Experience to begin making a difference on DAY ONE! You have
already paid for my training.
